We arrange everything throughout the ceremony, so you have nothing to worry about.

Marriage ceremonies in Nepal are supposed to take place only at special times of the year. Generally, they occur from mid-April to mid-July and mid-November to mid-December. The date of the marriage is fixed based on the position of the stars and other astrological factors. The horoscopes of the bride and bridegroom are checked to see whether the couple is compatible with each other.

Those of you who are already married or are thinking of marrying in Nepali style can visit Nepal first and observe how Nepali people marry. The liveliness will invoke the desire to marry or re-marry in the traditional way. So, visit Ayan Holidays to create such a memorable experience — we are more than happy to serve you as per your desire.

Hindu Marriage

The Hindu marriage system is a long and religious process that runs in accordance with the Vedas. The marriage venue is beautifully decorated with colorful flowers, papers, and lights. The bride and bridegroom are dressed in traditional attire. The bride wears a completely red outfit (sari, cholo, tika, and golden ornaments), while the bridegroom wears Daura Suruwal, dubo garland, and carries a khukuri.

The bridegroom’s side goes to the bride’s home with the “Janti” (relatives of the bridegroom). The ceremony is held under the open sky in a mandap with a sacred fire in the center. The bride and bridegroom walk around the fire seven times while the priest chants mantras to bind the two souls together, making them take an oath to live together until death. The final step is putting the red streak — Sindoor (vermilion powder) — on the bride’s forehead, marking the beginning of eternal companionship.

Traditional Hindu marriage ceremonies are accompanied by the Panche Baja and other popular folk songs, as Nepali people believe traditional music strengthens the nuptial bond, pleases the gods, and brings blessings to the couple.

Buddhist Marriage

The Buddhist marriage system is a unique and peaceful way to marry. The ceremony is a quiet occasion usually held at a monastery. The bride, bridegroom, and Lamas (monks) all wear traditional attire. The Lamas conduct the customary puja and solemnize the wedding.

Butter lamps are lit at the monastery on the wedding day — a beautiful and serene sight. The music played is traditional and distinct from modern tunes. The calming sounds create a pleasant atmosphere that soothes the mind and soul. The Lamas bless the couple for an eternal bond and happiness.
